accesslint-scan

SkillDev tools

accesslint-scan is a skill that audits a live web page for accessibility issues and reports each WCAG violation with its exact location. It runs the AccessLint CLI against a managed Chrome browser, then returns findings grouped by impact, each with a CSS selector, evidence, and a suggested fix. It locates and reports only; it does not edit code.

What your AI can do with it

  • Audit a live page for accessibility issues via the AccessLint CLI
  • Report violations grouped by impact with counts
  • Locate each violation with a verbatim CSS selector and file:line when source is present
  • Include evidence such as contrast ratio, missing attribute, or empty name
  • Suggest mechanical fixes or flag findings as NEEDS HUMAN
  • Scope audits with --selector, --wait-for, --include-aaa, and --disable flags

Getting started

  1. Have Node.js available so npx can run the AccessLint Chrome and CLI packages.
  2. Have the URL of the live page you want to audit; the skill asks for one if it is not provided.
  3. Run the ensure command to start the managed Chrome browser and get its port.
  4. Run the AccessLint CLI against the URL with the port, using flags like --selector or --include-aaa as needed.
  5. After the audit, stop the managed browser unless ensure reported managed:false.

What this skill tells your AI

The instructions your AI receives, as published by sickn33/agentic-awesome-skills in skills/accesslint-scan/SKILL.md and read by ahel’s review.

Audit a live page and report what's broken and where. Locate; don't fix. If no URL in $ARGUMENTS, ask for one.

When to Use

  • Use this skill when the task matches this description: Audit a live page for accessibility issues, locate each WCAG violation precisely, and return a selector-grounded fix worklist without editing.

1. Audit

PORT=$(npx -y @accesslint/chrome@latest ensure | node -e 'process.stdin.on("data",d=>process.stdout.write(""+JSON.parse(d).port))')
npx -y @accesslint/cli@latest "<url>" --port "$PORT" --format json

Flags as needed: --selector, --wait-for "<selector>", --include-aaa, --disable <rules>.

2. Report

Counts by impact, then one entry per violation:

  • where — selector verbatim + file:line (symbol) if source is present — never fabricate. If no violation has source, note "source mapping unavailable — located by selector only".
  • evidence — contrast ratio, missing attribute, empty name
  • fix — mechanical change or NEEDS HUMAN

Don't edit. For fixes: apply mechanical ones then re-run to verify; for bulk work hand off to accesslint:audit.

3. Tear down

npx -y @accesslint/chrome@latest stop --all # skip if ensure reported "managed":false

Gotchas

  • ensure always determines the port — never hardcode 9222.
  • CLI exit 2 = bad URL or page never loaded; check the dev server.

Limitations

  • Use this skill only when the task clearly matches the scope described above.
  • Do not treat the output as a substitute for environment-specific validation, testing, or expert review.
  • Stop and ask for clarification if required inputs, permissions, safety boundaries, or success criteria are missing.

Questions

Does it fix the issues it finds?
No. It locates and reports issues only. Mechanical fixes can be applied afterward and then re-verified by running the audit again; for bulk work, hand off to accesslint:audit.
What does each finding include?
Each finding includes the location (a verbatim CSS selector, plus file:line and symbol if source is present), evidence such as a contrast ratio or missing attribute, and a suggested fix or NEEDS HUMAN.
